Yab and Abu, the main characters

Yab and Abu are curious, fun-loving characters who discover the world around them and share it with the viewer through a universal language. Their creative universe reaches children through animation, crafts, gags and other resources.

Yab is the male character: orange stripes — the colour of energy — with a slightly crooked mouth that makes him all the more loveable. He's the older of the two: sharp, enthusiastic, curious and funny.

Abu is the female character: lilac with deeper lilac spots — the colour of stability and calm — with a warm smile that radiates tenderness. She's the younger one: innocent, sweet, curious and just as funny.

Yababu! was awarded by RTVE.ES and RED.ES with the Internet Audiovisual Innovation Platform (INVI) Award in the education category, and with the Special Prize Ciudad de la Luz, granted by the Centro de Estudios Ciudad de la Luz.

Project philosophy

We believe that progressive educational approaches — such as living education — can serve as a starting point for content creation. To resolve their conflicts, the characters of Yababu! use emotional intelligence as their main tool.

The Yababu! scripts are written in line with a child-centred pedagogy based on concepts such as autonomy, freedom, respect and self-discovery. The only boundaries are respect for others, for shared spaces and for objects.
